SG Wrap Around Care

Clubs and Activities are an integral part of Spring Grove and take place during lunch breaks or after school.  They are designed for children in Years 1 – 6 (see below for details of after-school provision for Early Years).

Our staff enable us to have an exciting range of different activities.  There is an overall charge of £40.00 to take part in the after-school activity programme.  This payment allows you to choose an unlimited number of staff-run clubs. Tennis, cricket swimming lessons and dance are clubs involving external coaches and charges will vary.

Our Clubs include:
Wind and Brass Group – this group is great fun to be in.  We learn how to improvise and to play some interesting tunes.  We have played in concerts both in school and in the local community.  Playing the Blues with the Tim Kliphuis Trio was a highlight.

Music Ensembles – Orchestra takes place on Thursday mornings in our new music room.  We have about 25 players and are keen for more to take part.

Art Club – Art is a very popular subject and our children jump at the opportunity to spend time in the art room working on a variety of projects.

Athletics – Athletics is a very popular and successful sport and a large number of boys and girls are keen to participate in the after-school session aiming towards selection for the IAPS Championships.

Ball Skills – on Mondays and Fridays there are opportunities for boys and girls, aged 5 – 11, to develop their ball skills through a variety of fun games. Advanced Reception children are sometimes invited to join in the summer term.

Chess This activity has proved to be extremely popular with both boys and girls (Years 3-6).  The PTA recently bought us some competition clocks.

Cross-Country – we have built very strong cross country teams over the past years and this after school club has certainly helped.

Lego – Lego is extremely popular with the Year 1s and 2s.

Debating –  Mrs Jones and Mrs Liddle (parent) have thoroughly enjoyed teaching the children debating skills.  Thoughtful and passionate debates on a number of issues happen every week.

Drama – This is a popular curriculum subject especially for the older children and so the drama club has proved to be an extra special opportunity for developing acting skills.

Nature Club – The children have an opportunity to explore the surrounding environment to llok out for interesting flora and fauna.

Swimming – During the summer months we make full use of the swimming pool with extra sessions for the children.

Other clubs include: Environmental Club, Film Club, Board Games, Science, Computing, Technology, Lego, Rugby, Football, Netball, Hockey, Cricket, Wide Games
