Up until Prep 3 science is covered by the form teacher as part of the general curriculum. From Year 3 onwards the children are taught by a specialist science teacher in a purpose-built laboratory.
The syllabus is based on the 11+ Common Entrance which stretches the more capable children although there is no formal examination taken so those less scientific need not worry!
All children have a natural curiosity and our emphasis is on enjoyable practical lessons encouraging a sense of enquiry and giving the children lots of opportunities to explore and experiment,
The laboratory is fully equipped to cover all abilities up to the National curriculum level 6 and science clubs are run during the week to give pupils an opportunity to experience topics that lie beyond the scope of the syllabus like surface tension, hydroponics, acids and alkalis and elements.
We also have a flourishing Science and Technology Club where children can experience additional skills including robotics, bridge building, model car design, electronics and computer control.
